Learn how to connect to Coppin State University's wireless network using your CSU account or as a guest. Also, learn how to connect your gaming device to the internet. |
Connecting to the Wireless Network
Before you attempt to log into the wireless network you must:
- Enable your wireless adapter 802.11x (a, b, g or n) on your computer/laptop and install the latest drivers (if necessary), if you have an external wireless adapter insert it into computer first.
- Turn-off your pop-up blocker if attempting to access CSU-Guest wireless network.
Things To Remember
- The CSU wireless access is available campus wide. If you have access problems anywhere on campus, please contact the IT Service Desk at (410) 951-3888.
- You must have your wireless card installed along with the latest drivers.
- The Division of Information Technology does not support personal PCs Laptops or PDAs, however will assist with issues related to wireless access.
- After 3 unsuccessful logins you will be locked out of the network and must wait 5 minutes before attempting to login again.
- Go to settings
- Go to Wi-Fi settings
- Click on “CSU-Wireless” network
- Enter your CSU username and password
Note: Instructions will vary based on the device
- Click "Settings" then select "Wireless & Networks" and "Wi-Fi settings".
- If Wi-Fi is not enabled, please enable it.
- Select "CSU-Wireless".
- For "EAP method" select "PEAP".
- For "Phase 2 authentication" select "MSCHAPV2".
- If you are using the Nougat (7) OS on your Android, set "CA Certificate" to "Use system certificates" and "Domain" to "coppin.edu".
- Enter your Identity as your username plus @student.coppin.edu, e.g. "JSmith00@student.coppin.edu ".
- Some devices may have an "Anonymous identity" field. Leave this blank.
- Enter your EagleLINKS password.
- Click "Connect".
- Your device should show "Obtaining IP address from CSU-Wireless..." then shortly after "Connected to CSU-Wireless".
Google Chromebook: Make sure the Authentication Type is PEAP and set CA Certificate to “Do not check for certificate”
Important: Press "Cancel" to go back to the previous screen. Do NOT press "Forget" or you will need to enter all the configuration information again.
Your device should now connect automatically to the CSU-Wireless wireless network whenever it is in range.
- Go to settings
- Go to Network and Internet settings
- Go to Wi-Fi section
- Click on “CSU-Wireless” network
- Enter your CSU username and password
If Wi-Fi doesn't work after changing your password
Computer
- Go to settings
- Go to Network & Internet
- Click on Wi-Fi
- Click on Manage Known Networks
- Click on the Wi-Fi you're trying to connect to
- Click on forget
Phone
- Go to settings
- Go to Wi-Fi settings
- Click on the Wi-Fi you're trying to connect to
- Click on “Forget Network”
Note: If the student recently changed his/her Coppin Account (EagleLINKS) Password, you will have to Forget the old Wi-Fi password and then enter the new one.
To forget old Wi-Fi password
- Depending on the version of Android/iPhone, find the ‘Wi-Fi’ section under Settings.
- Click on the Wi-Fi network you want to forget, in this case click on CSU-Wireless.
- Then select Forget.
- Once you forget the network, you can sign into the Wi-Fi with the new password.
Connecting to Wireless as a Guest
- Campus guest will select and connect to wireless network named “CSU-Guest”. Click continue anyway if needed
- Next campus guest will launch their web browser and image #1 below will display.
- Guest will then need to register to obtain a guest username and password by clicking on “Need an account? Click Here”.
- Once guest click on “Need an account? Click Here” they will be directed to the guest registration page. Here guest will enter their name and valid email address then accepts terms of use and click register.
- Once guest clicks register, the Guest Registration Receipt will display. Click “Log In” to connect to wireless.

Connecting Your Gaming Device to Wi-Fi
Below are instructions for connecting your game system to the Coppin wireless system.
STEP 1 - Locate Your TV or Game Console’s 12 digit Wireless MAC Address
First, find the MAC address for your device using the appropriate path below:
- PlayStation 4 (PS4)
Settings → Network → View Connection Status → Wireless MAC Address - PlayStation 5 (PS5)
Gear icon (Settings) on the Home screen → System → Console Information → MAC address (Wi‑Fi) - Xbox One
My Games & Apps → Settings → Network → Advanced Settings → view wireless MAC address - Nintendo Switch
System Settings → Internet → view System MAC Address - Apple TV
Settings → General → Network → view wireless MAC address - Roku wireless TV
Home Screen → Settings → Network → About → view wireless MAC Address - Amazon Fire wireless TV
Home Screen → Settings → Device info → view wifi MAC Address
STEP 2 - Register the MAC Address on Campus Network
Use a campus computer (or device already connected on campus) to:
- Visit http://resnet.coppin.edu/guest/register.php
- Fill out the registration form and accept the terms of use.
- Submit your console’s MAC address.
- You will receive an SSID to use—either shown directly or sent to your Coppin State email.
- This registration is valid only for the semester and only valid within dorm areas. Re-registration is required each semester
STEP 3 - Manually Configure Your Console's Wi-Fi
Once registered:
- On your console, open Wi-Fi settings.
- Manually enter the supplied SSID you received during registration exactly as it appears (do not select SSID from list).
- Select security type: open or no security
- Connect to that network, and your console should go online.
Key Notes & Reminders
- Semester Renewal Required: Your registration is valid only for the current semester—re-register each new term for continued access
- Location Restrictions: This SSID works only in residence hall areas. Outside of dorms, use the standard CSU‑Wireless network
- Older Consoles Still Supported: The original instructions for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, and PSP remain—follow them if you're using those devices
